2009 Leechon Goals and Objects

Reading time: 4 – 6 minutes

I hate it when people defeat themselves with their own words. Statements such as “I’m lazy” make me sick. Statements like that are enough to begin corrupting us and leading us to destory the very integrity our lives stand on.

Part of running a business is living with passion and purpose, which go against the very factors that cause laziness. Laziness is a poison that will lead to the hellfire and that is the worst torment of all. To be remarkable we need to continuously be ahead of what’s already out there. To consistently and successfully lead you need to effectively plan.

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail. Failure is NOT an option UNLESS it’s in the path of being sincerely remarkable because those failures will still lead to remarkableness in this life and the next.

    Assalamualaikum

    This is a real motivator for me personally!

    I think you have structered it well aiming at completing it per quarter rather than set unachievable targets

    May Allah help you acheive your goals and aspirations

    May Allah put barakah in your time akhi Belal.

    What’s “Love-Noted”?

  5. AlBaraa Says:

    For those who don’t know what “love noted” is…

    It’s a script that I wrote a WHILE back. An older version of the script can be found at this link :
    http://leechon.com/scripts/love_noted_4th_draft.pdf

    I made a post about my first feeble attempt at producing the script here:

    jazaka Allah kheir

  7. Jawaad Ahmad Khan Says:

    wow…this brings so much more meaning to those 5 things the Prophet (S) told us to take advantage of before 5 things. (Time, Health, Youth, Wealth, Life). I definitely am gonna start making some goals right now for this year. Also, I read Love Noted, (the older version of the script)…it seems it needs to be a bit revised, but I assume since this was an older version, it has been. (Also I was surprised that the ending voice of reason had my name :p )
    MashaAllah wasalaamu Alaikum

  8. MR Says:

    Holla at me to let me know when “God Speak” is done.

  9. AlBaraa Says:

    It’ll be done before Thursday inshaAllah. – I’ve got a BUSY few days ahead of me.

  10. Shirien Says:

    MR, before you try to upload it anywhere, shoot me an email. Can you post his 6 min promo for God-Speak on HalalTube?

    Belal, can you send us the files for some of the FAQs on UnderstandArabic? I’d like to make 2 or 3 public to all, to give them a taste of what they would see by submitting their name and email.

    After God-Speak inshaAllah we’ll be restructuring the website and make it more navigational.. because we’ll be uploading all of Bayyinah’s promo videos, trailers, and some lectures on there, inshaAllah.

    I like your objectives piece of this post – you’ve become adept at organizing your mind and letting us in on it which is super cool. I believe this is an important skill for all of us to develop. Regarding comments, all I can say is keep going akhee, bigger and brighter, shattering standards. Don’t let up your pace – may Allah protect you. I feel hypocritical commenting specifically on your objectives since I’ve never come close to pursuing or mapping out similar goals. That is what I am working on now, getting some momentum and trying to be a part of something truly valuable and important.

    Question: when it comes to planning a particular project, what do you do? Brainstorm on a note pad? Or a blank sheet of paper? Do you use mind map software or some other tool? What are the questions you start with, once you have decided to pursue a project, how do you go about breaking it down? jazakallaahukhair in advance for your time

  12. AlBaraa Says:

    Thanks for your question AbooZaid,

    It really depends on the scale of the project. —

    :: 1 ::
    Generally – the first thing I look at is whether or not the project helps in getting Leechon closer to its vision and purpose.

    :: 2 ::
    If all is well, I sit down with the project heads (indy or client) and see what the specific objective and goals are. Pretty much lay it out straight in simple terms while having depth in the purpose of the project.

    :: 3 ::
    I begin mind-mapping/brainstorming — I do this on either an 11×17 sheet of paper or several 8.5×11 sheets. I spend about 2-3 hrs doing this. Getting any and all thoughts and details on paper.

    :: 4 ::
    I then use the mindmap to lay out an action plan with dated items and a list of needed resources to accomplish each item.

    :: 5 ::
    I look at who does what, schedule it accordingly in relation to my other existing projects and simply execute

    I believe that mind-mapping really helps in doing a collective mind-sweep/mind-dump. Its part of the “natural planning model” taught by David Allen from his two books Getting Things Done and Making it all Work. It lays everything out in front of you and have a bird’s eye view of what’s there.

    From there you simply eliminate the unneeded stuff, define the critical elements, assign the right people, and make sure everyone executes (especially yourself).

  13. Nihal Khan Says:

    Is this suppose to be your last post?

  14. Dawud Israel Says:

    ^Yeah I wanted to ask the same question as br. Nihal. Haven’t seen anything new from you in a while…
    Anyways, hope things go well.

    I made a post on my blog regarding Islamic films, I thought you might wanna read it: http://muslimology.wordpress.com/2009/02/18/the-future-of-islamic-cinema/

  15. AlBaraa Says:

    Last post? Not at all – just been a bit caught up on client work and indy projects – I’ll follow up soon inshaAllah.
