Be My Classmate

I’m attending two different training seminars on the business of film distribution online and offline in the coming weeks. One is going to be in Maryland and the other will be in Los Angeles. Why am I going? To sharpen the saw of course! I invite you to come attend also!
–
September 20th in Virginia Jerome Courshon is conducting a seminar titled, “The Secrets to Distribution: Get Your Movie Distributed Now!” I first heard about Jerome and his seminar via FreshDV when they featured him on an hour long interview titled, “Distribution 101.”
When I first the video I was ready to fly out to Los Angeles to attend his seminar but when I heard that he’s doing it in Virginia (4 hours drive from me) I thought that this is great! I booked my seat and just need to make some travel arrangements and I’m good to go.
If you’re someone who is serious about learning the business of how films are distributed in the market today and what you need to do to get yourself a distribution deal then I recommend that you come attend.
–
I got an email from Stacey Parks of FilmSpecific.com from her weekly email list regarding a seminar taking place on October 11-12 by Alexander Vickers titled, “Make Your Money Back” on how to distribute your film online with proven internet marketing strategies. There’s more info on the link I provided. I personally haven’t attended any of his seminars nor am I enrolled in his online marketing for filmmakers course.
I registered earlier this week and I’m looking forward to meeting the people there.
–
If you’re in the local area or want to attend the seminars regardless, I recommend that you register asap before seats fill up.
I’m looking forward to applying what I learn in the release of Tufaan. This should be exciting

Hey Belal,
Hope you had a great time in LA at the “Make Your Money Back” seminar. Looking forward to your thoughts on it.
Also, let us know if it’s changed your opinion (either way) toward using the online seminar http://www.internetmarketingforfilmmakers.com/

The “Make Your Money Back” seminar was taught by the same guy who runs internetmarketingforfilmmakers.com — Over all the content presented on the website was similar (he gave all the attendants access to the online course). The major difference was the live feedback and the ability to pick the brain of the instructor as well as the ability to pick the brain of the people who were there.
In all seriousness I learned just as much as I did with the people who were there attending as I did with the instructor. The people there were real independent producers, directors, writers..all of whom had something real. There were few more aspects of the live seminar that the online course doesn’t have:
– Trailer Clinic — this was a VERY beneficial session by dreamscape studios given by a guy who does trailers professionally for about $25,000 a pop.
– Critique — He brought many of the students on stage and critiqued their websites on stage. Told us personally how to improve it to better deliver value and sell our film. He also critiqued our trailers one by one telling us exactly what we need to add, remove, change, etc.
– Action Plan — The 2nd half of the day laid out exactly what we need to do personally to sell our films (basically a marketing plan).
– Bonuses — One MAJOR bonus they gave us was a DVD full of about 10+ hrs of content on the aspect of film financing by people like Stacy Parks, Marc Rosenbush (the instructor) and a bunch of other people…oh and all the attendees will be getting a DVD of the actual course as well.
Personally I think the online course is a great complement to the live seminar, but it lacks the social community aspect, which MessageMastery.com (shameless plug) has
. I intend to add the content of the course into MessageMastery.com into the near future for the members there to benefit.
