Macbeth - Reflections

In May of 2003, myself and a few others were assigned to do a “film” of the Scene 8 and 9 of Shakespeare’s Macbeth Act 5. We got together one morning:

  • Prepared the plan in 2 hours.
  • Began practicing for about 1 hour
  • Filmed at the park using two Sony D8 camcorders for about 8 hours.
  • Spent about 50 hours editing on an iMac

The following was the result.

This was my second attempt at making a movie ever. My first time ever editing on a computer.

Lessons:

  • Working with a team makes the job much easier.
  • When it comes to scripts, memorizing them before the filming date really helps.
  • Having backup props is a good idea, especially when the one you are using keeps getting broken.
