Epi-Storm Preproduction - Soul Shock

  • Episode 1 - Mind-Storm Complete!
  • Episode 2 & 3 - Mind-Storm Complete!
  • Episode 4 & 5 - Mind-Storm in Progress…

Episode 4 begins with our main character walking into the masjid with Jameel. Episode 5 ends with him walking out of the masjid with a real interest to learn about Islam.

At the masjjid he’s totally blown away (no pun intended) by the adhan, the brohood, the unity of salah, and recitation of the Imam, and the down to earth friendlyness of the Muslims there. The Main character has a genuine interest in learning about Islam by end of Episode 5.

I need some exciting things to happen. If not then, i need some good dialouge. Let the juices flow :)

    interesting stuff that happens…

ICPC like atmosphere…little kids running around and playing in the background. several different halaqa’s happening in the masjid….each talking about something different…but then at teh end, the lesson learned from each halaqa is the same….

  2. MCATkiller Says:

He meets young muslims his age, this comforts him becuase he sees muslims as “chill” like him and not wat he pictures muslims as, according to the media of course..it would be better if he meets converts..oh and if it takes place in ICPC he will be very interested in their martial arts program, and he strikes good convo with him..this could be a start of a good friendship…ill think of dialogue and get back to u

  3. Hasan Mahmood Says:

Yo be, you got to change this from episode 3,

“Main character is like…”what the hell!?!”. Muslim guy sits up…’gotcha!’ i thought u were dead!’ Muslim guy goes….”i would have been…if Allah (swt) didnt give me experience wit ppl like you…although….you guys did knock the wind outta me. Man…wut you guys doin out here at this time drivin like that?’”

Nobody Muslim or not would react that calmly after getting hit by a car. That just seems so unrealistic and kills the story.

When he walks into the masjid. Maybe he can sit on in a halaqa were they are talking about the purpose of life. He starts to think about what his purpose is. They talk about how the kuffar dont know the purpose of life and are lost. Then when he hears the purpose of life is to worship Allah, he starts to think about that. Then he hears the adhan. And he doesnt pray with them but he watches them pray and he is completely blown away off how the salah movements are done completely in unison and the recitation and all that seem very interesting to him.

Then he is also so interested to see how people greet each other at the masjid and how good people are to each other. People introduce themselves to him and he is blown away by the freinliness.

  4. gumbo Says:

hmm i think it should be a little less typical with regards to what gets him intrested in islam, rather than it just be that he goes to a halaqa. maybe he can go with that muslim guy to the masjid, but turns out that there is a janaza that day. and they give a brief talk about death, and like someone said before the purpose of life, and the camera shows his facial expression and him in contemplation while a speaker is speaking. (no dialog needed for main character really, it could be visual).

so the whole sceen could be they walk in, expecting to go listen to a lecture chill whatever, but then when they get there they see that they are about to pray salatul janaza, so his Muslim friend tells him (there has been a death) and then he goes and talks to someone to see who it was, while the non-muslim guy is observing everything that is going on around him.

    wallahu alem

  5. ronny Says:

why dont you have the dude walk into the Masjid and then see a Muslim chick in nekab (maybe the same one in his dream)…then he can ask some questions…for example he can ask “why are women treated like a lesser class in Islam?’” and his new friend can explain what Islam is all about?

  6. Hasan Mahmood Says:

^^^ Umm…they would be on different sides, wouldnt they? But I still stick with the idea I posted earlier. Belal, are you gonna be posting up the finalized episode soon?

  7. unknown Says:

    vell vell…
I was just thinking wat are the chances of a non muslim that you just met accompany you to a lecture???

Does that even happen in real life?

I say make it a bit more realistic…
For instance after the guy gets hit and the white guy checks on him he realizes that the muslim guy is a bit injured with bruises and scratches nothing big…not to mention that his backpack flew open and evertyhign that was in it was all over the street… out of courtesy the white guy first helps the victim with his frist aid kit then tries to gather up his stuff…

Amidst of collecting his books and stuff.. he comes across a dvd that says ” why are you here?”
( that would be khalid yassins dvd from the purpose of life)…

then he takes a moment poundering over that question ..trying to find an answer when the muslim guy comes behind his back and says you can keep that as he leaves…
The white guy tries to call after him but the muslim guys is already gone in the fog…

the white guy goes back home hestitant whether he should watch it or not… hes afraid to be brain washed yet he wants to know the answer for this mysterious question.

finally as he opens the dvd cover a business card that belongs to the muslim guy drops out… he places it in his wallet and is about to insert the dvd in the player when he gets shocked by an unexpected phone call……………………….

  8. Hasan Mahmood Says:

So, when are you gonna complete this episode?

  9. AlBaraa Says:

Only problem with halaqa idea is….its boring. The only thing that can counter the boring talkin (i think) is c.h.i.d. (creativly humorous intelligent dialoug)

I also want him to enter the book store in episode 5.

current concept in my head is:

guy walks into the masjid, meets his buddy that gave him the interview contact. After that he hears the iqamah being called. he comes and sits down and watches as the people pray. At this moment once the imam begins to recite things start going through his head. you see a visual of his thought process and the images that come to his head. episode ends here…im also thinkin that the story takes place during the 1st week of ramadan.

In episdeo 5 people hustle and bustle starts in the lobby of the masjid. he notices that looks oddly similar to the one he saw in his dream and the one that passed him by when he entered the interview place. He sees her enter the book store. he follows her. she picks out a dvd to purchase. As she picks up the dvd right behind it is “the purpose of life’ by khalid yasin. —- this is where C.H.I.D. takes place between him and the niqaabi —-

I want something else to happen from here, and then he leaves the masjid.

    help me out here :P

  10. Hasan Mahmood Says:

What type of C.H.I.D. are you looking for? Give an example…

  11. Hasan Mahmood Says:

So after he talks to the niqaabi, he leaves and is amazed at the modesty and unsluttiness of most muslim women. He wants to get with the niqaabi, but he cant. He asks his friend advice on how he can hook up with the niqaabi. The only option is to become Muslim. He leaves the masjid at this point.

  12. Humaira Says:

    Assalaamu Alaikum
This white man joins brother Jameel at the masjid for salah. To save time I’m naming the white man as Bob. Bob sits in the corner of the masjid and watches all the men pray. He is trying to figure out what is happening. But he sees something which really catches his interest. Bob sees that everyone is praying together. There are white men, black, brown, rich, poor, middle class people here. They are standing side by side as equals. Bob thinks to himself in Christianity, white man has his own church, the black man has his own chuch, the rich go to a different church, and the middle class and poor have their own. Here I am in a mosque and everyone is the same. I know have seen that one man. He drives a BMW and has a ferrari at home, but why is he standing next to someone who is no where near his status. What is going on here? How is that possible? How can they all forget their status and stand side by side and pray to one God. After salah is over Jameel and the Imam come and sit next to him. Bob asks them what this was all about. They explain simple, Islam. In Islam everyone is equal. Islam does not define anyone by their skin color, or cultural background, but rather on the fact that we are one religion and we are Muslim. From there Bob is so amazed and Jameel, Bob, and Imam have a great conversation.

  13. Hasan Mahmood Says:

^^^ Lolz… Muslims do have their own mosques. They are divided into many categories, desi, arab, kaloo, tablighi, salafi, etc. etc. But when time for salah comes, you do get a mix off people at the masjid. But in general, Muslims are still divided.

  14. mariya Says:

what if you make less simple….first he just visits the masjid and just watches but doesn’t take interest. Thean another incident takes place with him and a muslim. Then he visits masjid agen and sees it froma different point of view. B/c he is going to be having a completly different life so you want it to happen indirectly and slowly.

    Just thoughts..
