My Facebook Account Got Disabled – I Want Your Help
|
|
Reading time: 4 – 6 minutes
If you’re seeking help on getting your Facebook account back…
The only help I can offer is that you follow the process I followed.
Simply send them an email and await a response. It’s happened to me and my wife and both of us have been able to get our accounts back. It took about two weeks for both of us from the time when the account was disabled.
The thing is to be patient and set yourself a deadline. If you don’t get your account back by that specific date, then make a new account. Tools are here today and gone tomorrow. Social capital and relationships are here to stay.

UPDATE
Hi Belal,
Your account was disabled because you took repeated actions that could be construed as spam. For instance, it is a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Use to repeatedly send the same message or to make the same post. Facebook prides itself in protecting users from spam, and we take this standard very seriously.
However, after reviewing your situation, we have reactivated your account, and you should now be able to log in. Please refrain from sending the same message or repeating the same post, as further violations of our Terms will result in your account being permanently disabled.
Please also be aware that when a warning message appears on your home page, it will generally be displayed for 24 hours. It can be displayed for longer, however, if you continue to perform these actions. We appreciate your cooperation going forward.
Thanks for your understanding,
Rachel

This post has two purposes:
- Request for your help in getting my account back
- Tell you the story about what happened
Firstly, send Facebook an email interceding on my behalf — appeals+dw5w8wy@facebook.com — asking them to reinstate my account profile.
Secondly, I’m going to tell you the story of what happened.
This past week I’ve been getting several emails from Facebook friends asking me what happened to my profile. The sad news is that my Facebook account got disabled on Eid day!
I guess I got a little excited and was sending out Eid holiday greetings to my groups and friends last Monday. I was prompted with a warning message for sending too many messages too quickly. I made the mistake of thinking, “let me send just one more…” — After which I got logged out of Facebook telling me the message pictured above.
I did some research and asking around for the proper course of action and was directed to send an email to the following email addresses:
- disabled@facebook.com
- appeals@facebook.com
First email I sent them was the following:
Hi,
My account was disabled. I was sending out Muslim holiday greetings to my friends and groups and it gave me a warning. I used the same message for the different groups I administer to save myself time. Is there any way that my account can be open again?
After a couple days – not having gotten a response I tried again, and they responded with the following:
Hi,
The Facebook Team has received your inquiry. We should get back to you soon. In the meantime, we encourage you to review our Terms of Use (http://www.facebook.com/terms.php) for more information.
Thanks for contacting Facebook,
The Facebook Team
After another few days of no results, I wrote them a poem:
Is there any hope of me getting my account back
or shall I be patient a lil while longer?
We can all use some slack,
which makes us no less strangerSome of us can cross the line in the excitement
but no one was put in danger
Looking forward to my account’s reinstatement
preferably sooner than laterYou guys do us people a great service
It would be sad not to continue to be a part of it
It would be of great happiness
If you let me back into it![]()
I hope my poem hasn’t annoyed you
I just hope to appeal to the better part
I would love to be back into facebook’s white and blue
Getting my account back would be a start![]()
Looking forward to your reply.

It’s been about three days since I wrote them a poem and have yet to hear anything from them. Those of you who have active Facebook accounts — if you can send an email to appeals+dw5w8wy@facebook.com interceeding on my behalf to get my account reinstated — I would really appreciate it!
I found a couple online articles that talk about how and why your account can get disabled:
Read them and be aware!

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullah!!
Have you posted this on almaghrib forums ? You should if you haven’t as all your projects are related to Almaghrib anyways so ask for their help as well.
Lol @ the poem. It is good . Why did you choose to write them a poem & not just another message ???
A simple questions: I know it mentions that your account is disabled for sending msgs quickly & what not.. After reading the two articles could you point any other reasons that are related to your account disablilty?
MR Says: 15.12.08 at 1:48 pm
Facebook doesn’t like spammers. As much as I love you, I know you were using facebook to message everyone about the eid gift marketing you did for the hajj pictures. It was a good intention but facebook policies are really strict when it comes to that.

This needs to go on stumbleupon.
AlBaraa Says: 15.12.08 at 4:30 pm
Sabrun_Samilun,
Thanks for the tip. I’m going to post on the almaghrib forums now. — I wrote Facebook admins a poem in the hopes that it would get more attention than a simply message.
– — –
MR,
— regardless I did make the mistake of sending too many messages. I really can’t think of any other reasons for why my account would get disabled.
“Spam” is considered something that is unwelcome. Free gift desktop wallpapers distributed in a timely tasteful manner on Eid is hardly unwelcome

Asalmaou alaikum wa rahmatullah,
Belal, I know this sounds kind of obvious, but why don’t you just crate a new account? I’m sure you can link up with everybody again? I’m sure there’s a reason for you wanting that specific one back though..
AlBaraa Says: 15.12.08 at 7:10 pm
It’s a lot more work building up the marketability and networking linkup w/ a new account. Re-administering myself on my groups and pages, that’s hours upon hours of work which I’d like to avoid.
MR Says: 15.12.08 at 9:51 pm
@albaraa – I didn’t say what you were sending was spam, but I am saying that Facebook considers it spam.

Why should I waste my time?
Your “wallpapers” were not even free, one has to register to your site. So it was more for self serving promotional purposes, not really a gift.
You deserved it.
AlBaraa Says: 17.12.08 at 3:45 am
If you personally don’t believe that you got any value or benefit out of what I gave out (something I did put quite a bit of time putting together), then by all means don’t waste your time.
There are those whom I do benefit and get tremendous value from what I do and give out, and my marketing and promotional efforts are not necessarily for myself. Rather they are for projects that are for the benefit and growth of those other than myself.
I wouldn’t be working in the area of film, media and marketing it if wasn’t something that was bigger than just myself and a means of leaving a legacy that could count of my scale of good deeds on the day of judgment to better my chances of earning the mercy of the only one worthy of worship.

Did MOFW give you the idea to write a poem? Do you think that did the trick or the petition from people?
AlBaraa Says: 20.12.08 at 12:30 am
MOFW didn’t tell me to write the poem, but I did get the idea from him
What did the trick? I don’t know. I’m just happy I got my account back

AlBaraa Says: 15.01.09 at 11:33 am
From my experience the only advice I can give is appeal to their good nature and understand that there are real people behind the facebook machine who will evaluate your case.
Send an email as I did and give it a couple of weeks. They will eventually get back to you.

AlBaraa Says: 24.02.09 at 10:09 pm
Your best bet is to send an email to facebook (as instructed in the post) and let them know your honest reason for whatever term that was violated.
They took about two weeks to get back to me with a positive response. You can do the same. If they don’t respond by a certain amount of time then you’ll have to create a new account.
Arif (Malaysia) Says: 20.03.09 at 3:19 pm
Salam to all!
Yes i was getting the same problem as u had before AlBaraa….just yesterday morning, my account was disabled for no reason and without any warnings!! Can u believe that?
Thats so rude and irresponsible of them (the customer service of Facebook).
I was hoping that they would atleast give some reasons which violations that the users have done resulting to being disabled at once.
I joined Facebook less than 2months since early February….my intention is to widen my networking and also make a better connection with my friends (old & new) through out the whole world….as some of my friends at different countries are offering me some good bussiness & job opportunity via Facebook.
So now everything is destroyed in a single day…pufff !!
I’m strongly believe that i’ve not done anything to violate other users or else….i’m quite sad this happening after 1.5months joining Facebook. I’ve already send several appeal emails to them but still no reply from them.
p/s: To AlBaraa….and anyone else happened to experience this and had the good solution…please do help me to appeal to the Facebook appeal team. May God repay all your good deeds. Insya Allah!! I just hope to get back my old account plus all its contents without any big changes…hmm.
Here’s my details:

Sorry…again.
Please someone do contact me via my email…about the solution of this matter.
Thank you
AlBaraa Says: 20.03.09 at 5:51 pm
Asalaamu alaikum Arif,
Regarding your situtation, I think your best course of action is to simply be patient for at least a couple weeks. If nothing results from that, then simply create a new account.
Arif (Malaysia) Says: 20.03.09 at 7:00 pm
Waalaikumussalam wbt AL BARAA,
Thanks for your reply & for your kindness to understand my account problem.
Yeah..I really hope that I could be patient enough to simply wait for a couple of weeks….really hope that it worth the time waiting too.
I’m just wondering…wouldnt it be any easier if they(Facebook) responded or acted in a more user friendly procedures..rather than “killing” people’s life just like that. Atleast they could start by giving a warning notice or something. Pity for those people who lost their business partners and important contacts….just like me losing a brighter opportunity of having a chance of making connection with a better job prospect thru good friends via Facebook…i’m very very sad.
Just yesterday….I’ve just chatted (via Facebook) with my old schoolmate who is still Germany furthering his studies…Can u imagine both of us haven’t met each other for about 11 years already since graduated from school??? Suddenly just a few hours after that….I’m in lost of contact with him…AGAIN ! Thanks to the “kindness” of Facebook administrator….
p/s:Is it possible for to use my lil borther’s identity (i mean to borrow it for a while just to contact and mention to my friends that I’m still around) ??
AlBaraa Says: 20.03.09 at 7:07 pm
generally, facebook is more about social network than it is about professional networking (for that you have linkedin). Facebook is a system. Its not actual people that kill the account. Facebook’s backend program notices a behavior that is similar to a spammer or a bot (adding many friends in a short period of time or posting on many people’s walls in a short period of time or emailing many times in a short period of time (this was my issue).
The result will be facebook’s system thinking that your actions are that of a spammer or bot and facebook is very strict on that. Keep in mind, facebook exists not for the users, rather it purpose is to provide and sell info about its users to marketers so that marketers can target you better. If users turn out to be bots or spammers, than that makes facebook’s product (the eyes of you and I) less valuable to the marketers..
Arif (Malaysia) Says: 20.03.09 at 8:15 pm
Yeah … I agree with your first opinion. But as I mentioned earlier, my intention of joining Facebook networking system is to create a good networking among friends (old & new)….whereby from this network alone…I can find my opportunity in anything I might desire…such as job opportunity (well u’ll never know that a simple chat with old friends could open a bigger job prospect) and also business prospects among friends…..at the same to socialize too. (I mean to do 2-3 things all together is the greatest way….since it would save a lot of energy and money to join so many network system…am I right?)
I’m already registered thru Linkedin…for your info =)
What’s the best way for me to tell the Facebook admin so that they really look into my problem (read it thru) and give people like us some justification?? I do believe I’m not doing anything wrong as far as I’m concerned….if I’m adding too much friends in short time…well majority of them are my close friends that I knew since school.
This is totally crazy…if FB deleted my account simply like that. If they are accusing of sending too much msg in walls….well how could I resist? Since everyday there’s always friends checking me out & want to know updates on my daily life. Well would this be our (user) mistakes too? Ive been browsing in the internet on the same issue about FB disabled account…..even famous celebrity like Lindsay Lohan also been a victim of unfair treatment by FB.
I mean people like me without any great personal interest…wont do those stupid things like spamming others with unwanted mail…..so I’m still lost/confused over the real reason behind all this…since they didnt state at all or atleast reply to my appeal mail.
So AL BARAA….how did u get back ur old account in a short of time??Tell me please. It would be a great help.
This is a total disaster for me as its my first time encounter with such problem.
AlBaraa Says: 20.03.09 at 8:22 pm
How I got my account back?
For starters, I made duaa to Allah-swt to have my account returned to me and asked others to make du’aa for me as well. After that I simply sent an email to the appeals dept (see the blog post for full details).

I would recommend you to visit FacebookDisabled. It explains in detail how to get your Facebook account back if it was disabled.
Adam Says: 23.04.09 at 4:43 pm
I found out today, that I have had my account disabled. The only thing more ridiculous than it being disabled is the reason why. I posted on my friends wall. No innapropriate messages or content mind you, just a talk with a friend. NOTHING in their TOS says I can’t talk to my friends, NOTHING in their TOS says I can’t post on my friends walls. I have yet to receive anything close to an intelligent reason as to why I can’t post on my friends walls. All I get is, “you post too fast.” Well, what are the limits or rates at which we are allowed to post I ask, “Well, we can’t tell you that, but you exceeded it.” What kind of policy is this exactly? They can’t expect people to abide by the usage rules, when they refuse to make those rules available.

Adam Says: 23.04.09 at 7:11 pm
No doubt, if it wasn’t so annoying I would have fell out of my chair laughing. It’s like the site is run by a 10 year old child. The daily tantrums resulting in accounts being disabled, are going to put this site out of business.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,
I don’t know what to do! My FB account was disabled last Friday without any warning. I am a 49 yr. old woman who enjoys searching for past classmates and friends on FB. As well I play the word association games that are on some of the discussion groups that I have joined. I do apologize for accidently overusing a feature. Playing word games has an addiction to it. As soon as FB disabled my account I emailed you. And I have since emailed you numerous times but with no success or response. I have not done anything illegal on FB. I enjoy passing the time playing word games and play scrabble online (different site). I offer you my sincere apologies if I accidently overused a Facebook feature. I know that there are several spammers and bad people who are on FB, which have not been caught and should definitely have their accounts disabled. Why are you picking on the innocent ones? Why are you not replying to my emails?
To continue with concerns mentioned above, one of my close friends that I recently refound on FB is someone I went to high school with. She is a breast cancer survivor, but is now suffering from a brain tumor caused by the radiation treatments. Treatment so far has not reduced the size of the tumor and she is most likely facing an early death.. Incidentally her sister died from cancer some years ago. Her family has gone thru enough. I have recently rekindled our friendship and her friends reaching out to her at her time of need is very therapeutic. Pls. reactivate my account so I can stay in touch with her as I have no other way of reaching her.
Pls. help me. Can you please reactive may account? Staying in touch with my friends is so important to me.
I would appreciate a reply and my account re-enabled. Thank you for being understanding in this matter.
Thank you for your time,
Kind regards,

Facebook seems faceless to me in relation to the robotic effects of FARCEbook trying to protect themselves from what their farcebots consider is ’spam’. One might have thought that people would use the same message on a large portion of friends saving time on re-writing BUT not FARCEbook who see it as a dangerous action. Sadly their farcebots can’t tell the difference from adverts and social connectivity of human beings – though one could think that checking up on private messages sent to friends to invite them to connect fell outside the scope of control and into the scope of privacy.
Of course don’t get me started on someone being disabled not getting the right of reply – defending themselves with being able to collect their history and not knowing what the hell they’ve been ‘disabled’ – ‘crippled’ – cut off or whatever else you’d like to call it. I don’t know if anyone’s read Franz Kafka ‘The Trial” but it certainly seemed poignant to me FARCEbook appears very Kafkaesque. Faceless farce book!
