SOME PHOTOS YOU CAN ENJOY FROM THE TRIP

View from up top Mt. Lee, behind the "Hollywood" sign. Photo taken by: Raffael Dickreuter My personal camera wasn't able to capture the grandeur essence of the Los Angeles skyline.

Right outside of my host's home. I love how lush it is.

I watched the episode alhamdulillah. Just a point of advice akhi, I’ve already mentioned how this browntourage series is really benecifial to me, and it helps me see Allah’s creation as well as American life. But try to avoid putting women on the screen akhi, as this is definitely not encouraged.
One thing I try and do with doubtful when there is no sheikh present for me to ask, is I sometimes:
“If I was to show this to Rasoolullah, (Peace be upon him) today, what would he think of it?” And I use that as a good moral judgement of my work on doubtful matters when no one is available.
Also ask a sheikh while you’re at Ilm Week about the chess (and backgammon), to get the ruling. Please tell me what they say insha Allah.
Other than that well done alhamdulillah! I especially loved that background sound from 2.20 – 2.42. That was a real hit. Keep it up bro!
Wa’aalikum salaam wa rahamtullahi wa barakaatuhu.

Hey I got an idea for your next video:
Have a bunch of guys sitting around, having a beer. That way, you can show people that Muslims are laid back, regular Joe Schmoes too! Only of course, you wouldn’t have real beer in the bottle, it would just be apple juice or something. Then you can put a disclaimer “No Alcoholic Beverages Consumed.” It’ll be super!
This idea will go great with your “No Musical Instruments” idea. I mean, of course it sounds exactly like music and has the same effect, but hey, it’s not actually music now is it? Awesome!

brother Anon,
hostile in your speech, are you not?
If you’d like to bring up a topic and ask the brother about his take on music in Islam, politely ask, because with the way you brought it up, your words now have even less value because the reader subconsciously loses respect for you.
Just a few words of advice..
(and by the way, I too. somewhat, share your view, but Lakum Di Nukoom Wa Leeya Deen (”To you be your way and to me be mine, Surah Kafiroon”))
waslaam,
awesome video by the way

@Akhi,
Jazakallahu khairun for the input bro, Generally re the fiqh, Although the opinions that I follow may or may not align with what others follow (even the almaghrib instructors differ w/ each other on it) – I TOTALLY respect the opinion you (and others) have pointed out (even if its opposite to what I follow) and I really appreciate and am humbled at the fact that you share it with me and I insist that you continue to do so
@Anon,
Go ahead and make the graphic – I’ll pass it around to some philly brothers and get their feedback to see what they think – (insert sarcasm).
@Jawaad,
Thanks for the props. How’s your video coming along so far?
Slave of Allah Says: 19.05.09 at 9:08 am
@AlBaraa
This sarcastic comment about “brothers in philly”…is actually a form of back biting…and I’m sure you know what happens when you backbite someone!
I was born into a Muslim family just like you and people like us many times do not tend to understand new-Muslims. A person who has been living his whole life worshipping a human being or other things from the creations….they don’t became “perfect” within a matter of days! Even the Companions needed some time to fully grasp ALL the aspects of Islam.
And now a days, when some American (white, black, hispanic, etc) becomes Muslim…honestly tell me, exactly how friendly are our desi uncles & aunties…or how friendly are our arab elders??? Our people practically drive reverts out of the Masjid, by not communicating with them. And when someone reverts to Islam, he or she needs a sincere Muslim with him/her to explain things every step of the way. But unfortunately lazy Muslims don’t want to do that! However they are very good at pointing the finger “these afro-american reverts…man they don’t know anything…so extreme…they are such nazi salafis, etc etc”
Yes I admit, many reverts have stirred problems here in USA…but at the same time you have to know that every problem has a root…and every problem has a solution. How about those born into Muslim families…haven’t they stirred problems within Muslim communities? Of course they have and that’s why the Ummah is in such a situation. So akhee, be fair and don’t mock about things that you don’t fully understand.
Allah says – …let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah…[Maa'idah 5:8]
Akhee, you may hate a certain Manhaj…it’s your choice coz we live in a free society…many people have the notion “abusing the Sunnah is all good as long as you don’t abuse my sheikh and/or my opinion”…but still be “just & fair” and speak the Truth regarding every human being.
@Fawad
Bro, putting this specific verse implies that you are from one religion and this brother anon is from another religion. InshAllah read the tafseer of the verse…why it was revealed and who/what it was for…hopefully this was your honest mistake…just because someone doesn’t agree with your views on “halal music”, doesn’t mean that person is from a different religion. This is a very serious verse to put here and not at all related. But anyways as I said, I hope it was honest mistake on your part…
AlifBaaTaa Says: 19.05.09 at 10:48 am
@slave of Allah I dont think br. belal was backbiting because he wasnt talking about anyone specific and i dont think he was referring to converts
I think it’s important that people realize that there are differences of opinion out there. if you think one thing is right but the other brother or sister follows a different opinion that doesnt make them devient. convey the naseeha but please dont try to force anything upon anyone. Also, with all the problems in the ummah today why not focus time and effort on the big things, and let difference of opinions go?
anyway good post.
Jawaad Ahmad Khan Says: 19.05.09 at 9:08 pm
@slave of Allah
I’m not sure, but I think that you were referring to me when you wrote “@Fawad”
Yes, I apologize for using that specific verse. I didn’t meant to convey any words accusing the brother of being of a different religion, in the translation of the verse it says, “To you be your way and to me mine”
What I’d meant is just that we should just agree to disagree on the matter. Though, once again, I apologize for using this verse in that situation (I know it was used during the Prophet’s time speaking to those of disbelief)…
Once again, I’m sorry and meant no harm (I also apologize to Anon if you took it the same way).
@AlBaraa
I still gotta release it…school is delaying me very harshly and I’m not sure when it’ll be out… though, once I finish school I’m going on a roll…I already have two other editing jobs waiting for me (a wedding video as well as a “home” video of my nephew…both for my sister & brother-in-law.)
And in my T.V. Production class I have a final project to complete right now so I’m a bit on hold…
but all else is good Alhamdulillah…

Jazakallahu khairun for your comment. — I apologize if I came off as pointing fingers when it wasn’t my intention. Forgive me for my miscommunication – and I appreciate your feedback on the matter and in the future keep them coming

Reality check, the show is very bad. the only good thing is that its edited really well and i like the no musical instruments, but it lacks passion and direction.
Qas Says: 07.06.09 at 4:34 am
MashaAllah, cool show. To take diverse material and turn it into something coherent is an amazing skill.
Qas Says: 10.06.09 at 3:26 am
Bro…just an idea…when you mix the sound, why don’t you separate the “music” and voice tracks into left and right outputs, so that people who have an issue with any form of music can just listen to just the voice side? I hope I’m being clear.
