Original Video Footage Before Photo Journal

Seeru fil Ard… “Travel in the earth”
Again, any project you want to produce- feel passionately about. And do it for the sake of Allah ‘az wa jal. A long time ago I make a rinky dink video called “Jannah How Badly Do You Want It?”
Not only was it done with windows movie maker, but the grammar! Anyway, the point is that this was something that I wasn’t doing for the sake of making a video but rather, I did it because at a time when my iman was high and I wanted to express that. Little did I realize later, that people were actually sending the video around. Ironically, my brother-in-law sent it to my sister when they were engaged and my sister was like “Hey wait a minute… my sister made that…”
Anyway, I decided to demonstrate the video that was tripod-less and shaky that I mentioned in my previous post. Be creative… This is accompanied by recitation from Salman Al ‘ataybi from my favorite surah in the Quran- Surat Ghaafir.

Shakey footage can have its purposes. It can be used as a means of conveying a setting, place, character and what not. I see that there are three types of camera movements
– “organic” — just ur hands. no tripod
– “smooth” — using a stablizer
– “stiff” — using a tripod/monopod
each have their disadvantages and advantages in use.

yeah i heard that that was used in Cloverfield- some people couldn’t handle the shakiness of the movie. I haven’t seen it and I prob. wont see it.
but if the footage doesn’t turn out the way you want it to turn out.. don’t just cut it, make use of it. Tell the story you wanted to tell but in a different way. I have so many more images I could have used for the demonstration.
actually in the video above.. when I was in Marina after fajr shooting that footage… I was originally talking in the background telling some of my reflections. and I had honestly forgot about some of the lessons I learned until I saw that footage again.
Marina is a place that can have either a lot of fasad or it could be a place that you can raise your iman with.
most people that go to marina are rich, and don’t wear proper clothing, non-religous type- you know the ones that pray but also go clubbing? (dont get me wrong marina is beautiful and there are secluded places and places just for girls)
That’s why I decide to go out after fajr because thats when all the other people go to sleep. Also I would go to the masjid there (there’s one on every block alhamdulillah) and some of the people who would recite would have some of the most beautiful voices in the world. and yet only like 6 people would be lined up in salah for fajr. and you know who those people were? the poor people who worked there. the gardeners, the trash collectors, etc. subhanallah I loved them all for the sake of Allah.
so in this video i’m actually talking about that. and how it reminded me of the hadith of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam in which he told us the majority the inhabitants of Jannah are the poor. Here these people are surrounded by people who are extremely rich, they think they have everything in the world.. yet the poor people are the ones that truly had everything because they were the ones who had a relationship with Allah ‘az wa jal.
tell your story through images.. mine arent good examples.. but it’s something i’ll keep in mind for next time.
