Quarter Two Adjusted Goals

Reading time: 4 – 6 minutes

Following up with the previous post, in this post I’ve laid out the quarter two objectives. As we move forward towards our strategic objectives, course correction is always required.

The following are the adjusted goals and objectives laid out for the next three months. Note that some of the objectives are labled “Mission Critical” meaning that these have to be completed, even if its at the expense of the non-mission critical objective.

Quarter 2 – 2009
April 1 – June 30

MISSION CRITICAL: Complete production for new Message Mastery course on media writing and launch initial marketing in parallel with project case studies to the current course (Secrets to Video Production), and begin development of two more courses (business of production + graphic design) for the system.

Currently, Message Mastery’s second course is in production. This course titled “Gatekeepers: Media Writing 101″ is being presented in partnership with Minbar Media and is currently being produced.

Begin production of short-film “Love Noted”.

I simply want to set in motion to produce this film as an executive producer. It would basically be an exercise for a producer in training on producing a film on a shoe-string budget.

- — -

Start production for an online HD series titled “Vi’rticle” for the Leechon blog.

I don’t know what the hook for this project is yet, but I’ve written out three of the episodes so far. This is not a mission critical objective.

MISSION CRITICAL: Build an email list of 20,000+ people

There are several ways in which I see this happening.

  • Begin collecting email addys via TufaanMovie.com and resume post-production on the film. Also periodically release footage and info for the film and we progress on the movie.
  • Begin laying out some free video content via Message Mastery for people to benefit from injected via media syndication networks.
  • Produce an ebook that gives an overview on effective distribution of content via social media.
  • if you have an idea, do share…

- — -

MISSION CRITICAL: Upgrade IlmCast.com to something outrageously cooler and have it integrated with the AlMaghrib Forums.

Target is to do this before the end of the month. Have a few things in play:

  • Developing a landing page for IlmCast.com for which people can optin to be notified of new videos and releases
  • For every release, a highlights reel goes out on major syndication networks couple weeks prior to the full video release.
  • Upgrade the layout of the website to something more distringuished.

- — -

MISSION CRITICAL: Launch a project specific course on Message Mastery as a follow up to Secrets of Video Production in which participants will be working toward a complete feature be working as a means of equipping AlMaghrib Institute Qabaail with adequate media personnel.

The target here is to individually target the leaders of each AlMaghrib Qabeelah to lay down this initiative. This initiative will be the foundation to achieving my two strategic objectives I laid out in the previos post. Idea is to get at least 15 of the Qabaail to particiapte in this initiative.

This initiative is going to be designed to equip the qabaail to produce:

  • Lectures for IlmCast.com – each Qabeelah will have an executive produce that will be appointed via Leechon (as per performance)
  • Videos (GemReels, Trailers, etc) to promote upcoming seminars in their locality – All of which will be posted on GemReel.com

- — -

MISSION CRITICAL: Resume post-production for Tufaan.

The idea is to take a month and dedicate it totally to jump-start the post-production of this film. I want to get this movie out there and it’s been a real of patience and discipline. First step is to begin letting people know about the updates regarding the movie and continously be working on it.

- — -

MISSION CRITICAL: Redesign Leechon.com website structure.

This is something that been a long time coming. The plan is as follows:

  • Splash Page >> leading to: Blog Site, Info Site, Portfolio Site

The layout and plan is already complete, its just a matter of purchasing the designs and spending a weekend integrating it all together.

This aspect of your blog continues to intrigue and challenge me. Five mission criticals for one quarter of work? I guess I should know not to expect less. Normally the “shoulds” are fewer than the “musts,” but I think you’re addicted to raising the bar mashallaah. Thanks again for sharing this. May Allah give you strength and success.

According to your “feed counter”, you have “19797 feed subscribers,” why don’t you get them to sign up with their email addresses. Common sense tells me you’ll get at least 10-15% which is a few hundred.

    :-D

    @ AbooZaid,

Actually, make that six mission-critical items (I forgot one, updated it just now). The way I’ve laid it out is every month, two are to be completed and progress should be continuous on the other. In a way I’m working on any one of them in a single period of time, but completion is relative to the time allotted.

As for raising the bar – lol, I guess you can say addicted. One thing is for sure, I’ve come to a point where the only way to really raise the bar is to truly systematize parts of the business.

    @ MR,

I do intend to. Understand that feed subscribers are passive people. Only ~600 of them actually read the posts, out of which, hardly any come to the website. One of the things I’m thinking is to use SEO and some JV list sharing to build the list inshaAllah.

I’m thinking, once the site is redesigned in the next 30-days, put up a progress meter that will count down to how many email addys have been accumulated thus far.

Do share any other thoughts you may have :)

    Wow, brother…
    Very very organized and goal-oriented I see…
This is definitely an awesome thing for you to do…Ihsaan all the way! :)
by the way, I think the progress bar is a good idea for the e-mail subscribers thing…
It kind of has an effect on someone when they see you have a goal and they watch it steadily increase.
    Keep it up InshaAllah…

    Wasalaamu Alaikum

By the way, have you ever considered Leechon buttons?
Or maybe even AlMaghrib buttons? Perhaps Qabeelat Durbah?
    Just some ideas
    *cough*
