Video Footage Gone Wrong? Make a Photo Journal
Posted February 23, 08 by ShirienBismillah,
If you want to produce films, Islamic commericals, make stories or even just be a photographer you should always carry your camera around with you. I can’t tell you the number of times I regretted not having a camera with me to catch a priceless moment.
During my trip to Egypt last summer, I took my video camera with me everywhere. I usually go to Masr every year and always regretted not bring my video camera. I know it looks “touristy” but, I didn’t care… because I wanted to show all my friends what I do over there and the places I go.
My problem? I didn’t have a tripod with me. I shot some great footage (really funny moments and all of which I will never put up here to bring shame to myself) but it wasn’t professional; It was shaky. So what do you do when your footage doesn’t turn out the way you want it to be? Turn it into a photo journalism project by freeze framing the footage at the right time. And i’ll demonstrate this with some of the footage I took this past summer. The key to a photo journal are the captions. If you take 3 photos and you put a caption, those pictures should represent everything that story is telling. So I want to share some of my favorite moments from my trip to masr… and remember with every project you do, feel passionately about it. And do it for the sake of Allah ‘az wa jal:
Click the pictures to view the captions and the slideshow, inshaAllah.

Asalamu Alikum, I really enjoyed reading your captions. They are beautiful. I really wish i lived by the ocean so I can be able to get out there b4 the sunrise. Its the most beautiful thing. SubhanaAllah. And I especially loved the second caption, it brought chills up my spine just imagining the sun to come up again in the west after it was suppose to set. Its so scary, but a great reminder. Im definetly gonna post that story to others to read. Jazak Allah kheir..

Barak Allahu feeki, you made my day. Yeah it was awesome being up at fajr next to the ocean every day… when sheikh Majdy was telling us that, it’s not like it was something I didn’t hear before…. but having the sun in front of you bright red with the sky full of colors and the sun going under the horizon of the ocean like it was almost getting buried by the water.. that truly sent chills down my body.
Especially when he pointed to the sun and said it in arabic what Allah ‘az wa jal is going to tell the sun then indicated that the sun will start at that VERY point and begin to go back and rise from the west.
I think i’ll do more photo journals in the future in the same manner inshaAllah, but it might take some time because I really like to feel really strongly about something in order for me to write about it or share it.
Barak Allahu feeki again, I love these types of comments.
